Miranda Lynch-Smith was appointed Deputy Assistant Secretary for Human Services Policy in the Office of the Assistant Secretary for Planning and Evaluation at HHS in March 2021. At ASPE, Lynch-Smith leads a team of policy researchers and analysts to advise the Secretary and collaborate across government on evidence-informed policy that advances child and family well-being, economic mobility, human service program and data integration, and equity. As part of her portfolio, she collaborates across the Department and government on homelessness prevention and child and family housing stability issues. Lynch-Smith was a Policy Fellow at Chapin Hall at the University of Chicago, where she provided strategic guidance and capacity building to child welfare agencies to leverage policy opportunities for system transformation and enhance prevention and well-being services and performance for families. She was also previously a career employee at HHS for 20 years.
